Breakfast bowls centred around the best of local, seasonal produce.

Our story…

Founded in 2010, Posh Porridge serves grain-based breakfast bowls centred around the best of local, seasonal produce.

We believe that porridge is at its best when topped with simple, lovingly-crafted ingredients. We use steel-cut oats from Canterbury NZ, which are slow-cooked and served with homemade toppings.

We have grown from a small stall at the Christchurch Farmers’ Market to a porridge destination, with a loyal following in Christchurch and beyond.

In September 2019 we opened a small café and takeaway shop at our Montreal Street kitchen. Our menu changes monthly and includes porridge as well as toast with all our delicious toppings on Grizzly Baked Goods sourdough and filter coffee from Supreme. Our shop is predominantly takeaway but a small amount of seating is available inside and in our sunny courtyard.

A bit about our team…

Olivia heads up all things Posh! After taking over the reins from dear friend Caroline (seriously friends for life, their Mums were in the same Plunket group) in March ‘23 she’s been getting stuck in and loving PP life. Thankfully Caroline (and her dear wee daughter Tilly) are on call to share her hard earned wisdom.

Led by the wonderful Kate S (whose title is Operations Manger but really she is so much more!). She keeps the place humming, your emails answered, events on track and makes sure we never run out of anything. You’ll see her cruising the mean streets of Christchurch Posh Porridge van so give her a wave - without her we would be lost!

Helga is all the way from Chile and our charming, talented and passionate Kitchen Lead. She’s an absolute champion and preserves fruit, makes (a lot) of crumble and prepares all the toppings and compotes. She often brings a little South American flair to our ‘Friday Bake’ and showcases treats from home.

Our hardy, and often rugged up team, at the market are made up of Kate B, Paris, Jess, Lily & Codi, Pip, Brooke and Aimee. They know how to work the ladle and do so at speed, and can be relied upon to serve porridge with a smile whatever the weather!
